All About the City of Olivette MO
Olivette is a suburb of St. Louis in the County of St. Louis, Missouri. A small farming community started settling in Olivette in the mid-19th century, they gathered along the Bonhomme Road, an Indian trail (now called Old Bonhomme, currently meets and shifts into Olive Boulevard). In 1930, Olivette was incorporated by joining the communities of Stratmann, Tower Hill, and Olive. It was once referred to as Central owing to its centralized location, now referred to as Olive Boulevard. The U.S. Central Bureau estimated the city’s total area to be 2.78 sq. miles or 7.2 km2, which is 100 percent land. Key roads through the city include Price Road, Old Bonhomme Road, Dielman Road, Interstate 170, and Missouri Route 340. Other suburbs surrounding Olivette include Overland (to the north), Ladue (to the south), Creve Coeur (to the west), and University City (to the east).

City Manager
As a full-service city, Olivette has a City Manager as its principal administrator. The City Council appoints the City Manager to serve the city. The City Manager is also charged with the general administration of the affairs of the city, program coordination & development, and preparation of Olivette City Council agendas, annual budget, special staff reports, and yearly statement of city programs, priorities, and more. The City Manager is also the Chief Administrative Officer and operates at the City Council’s discretion. He or she implements the policies and programs of the city adopted by the Council. However, the City Manager then appoints employees and officers except for the City Attorney, Municipal Judge, and City Treasurer. The appropriate Department Director is charged with the appointment of the city’s subordinates.
Communications Manager/ City Clerk
The City Clerk/ Communications Manager is responsible for maintaining a journal of all council proceedings, public records, and authenticating ordinances and resolutions. The clerk attests to official acts of Olivette City, administers oaths, and carries out any other duties as the law or the City Charter requires or as directed by the City Manager or City Council.
Human Resources
Human Resources is responsible for providing quality comprehensive services, recruitment, staffing, employee development, training, payroll processing, benefits, and employee relations in the City of Olivette. The Olivette Municipal Court
This municipal court division comprises a Municipal Judge and Clerk empowered to sign and issue subpoenas, take oaths, collect fines, and perform any other duties as required by the Municipal Code, state law, or ordinance.

Finance
The Finance Department prepares and maintains financial records according to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for city council or municipal accounting. This department also disburses the city’s funds and collects taxes, fees, and amounts owed to the City Council.
Therefore, the City Hall is made up of numerous departments and they all carry out their duties according to the relevant law. These departments ensure the smooth operation of the affairs of the city of Olivette.
